Ductwork replacement

The half of the system nobody looks at. Leaking or undersized duct will undo a brand new condenser and bill you for it every month.

Rooms that never settle usually have a duct problem, not an equipment problem

When one bedroom is always warmer and the unit seems to run forever, owners assume the system is too small. Often the air is leaking or collapsing on the way. Attic flex duct sags, kinks and tears over the years, and a leak in a very hot attic dumps cooled air into space nobody uses.

Whistling returns, vents that barely move air, and a return grille that tugs at a nearby door are the other signs. They suggest the ductwork is too small, crushed, or leaking at the plenum or the take-off collars. A brand new condenser on bad duct will still bill you for it every month.

A duct replacement starts with static pressure and ends at the take-off collars

We measure static pressure across the system to see how hard the blower fights its own ductwork, then look at the supply plenum, the trunk lines, the return and each take-off collar. Duct is sized to the load calculation, not copied from what was there, because the old runs may have been sized for equipment that no longer matches the house.

Replacement means new sealed connections at the plenum and the collars, supports that stop the sag, and return paths sized so the filter rack can breathe. We can replace a whole system and its ductwork in one project, as one Cypress family had done, so the new air handler is not connected to tired duct.

Bad duct costs you every month long before it fails outright

Leaky or restricted duct rarely announces itself. It shows up as a higher electric bill than the neighbors, a system that runs long cycles, dust streaks around the vents and rooms that never match the thermostat. Left alone, the blower works harder against the restriction, and that wear lands on the motor and the coil.

Ask for a duct check if you replace equipment, finish an attic, or see any of those signs. Call Air Oracle at (888) 524-7247 or visit the office at 8118 Fry Road in Cypress. Financing is available, and we give a free estimate on a complete system changeout, duct included.
